We worked with UTS staff across the organisation to work out how to better support the diverse needs of students in their learning.

 

We found that there was already a lot going on, and teachers were already trying a lot to be more inclusive. They needed better and more cohesive university support.

Among the recommendations was the need for a cohesive university campaign and brand around ‘inclusivity’, so that the community could easily engage with the content and messaging.

A strengths-based model of inclusive education recognises that all students have diverse abilities rather than deficits or disabilities. Learning experiences and environments can then be adapted and scaffolded in response to these needs, enriching the experience for all.
